Application of the diode is one of the most commonly used electronic semiconductor device.
Diode have many different types, and they are plays an important role in many of the circuit, it is one of the first born of the semiconductor element, it is widely used.

So, what is Diodes?

* A diode is lead to two electrodes by a PN junction, sealing the shell made of semiconductor devices.
* Diodes most obvious is that it's a one-way nature of the electrical properties. Diodes have two two electrodes, The Positive Electrode (Anode) and the Negative Electrode (Cathode)
* Diode according to the functions can be classified as: Switch, Rectifier, Regulator, Voltage Reference, Steady Flow, Variable Capacitance, Transient Voltage Suppression, Optical and Microwave, etc.

What is a Standard Rectifier?
A rectifier diode lets electrical current flow in only one direction and is mainly used for power supply operation. Rectifier diodes can handle higher current flow than regular diodes and are generally used in order to change alternating current into direct current. They are designed as discrete components or as integrated circuits and are usually fabricated from silicon and characterized by a fairly large P-N-junction surface. This results in high capacitance under reverse-bias conditions. In high-voltage supplies, two rectifier diodes or more may be connected in series in order to increase the peak-inverse-voltage (PIV) rating of the combination.

Types of Standard Rectifiers:
There are many different kinds of standard rectifiers, the most common types categorized by maximum reverse current, maximum peak current, maximum reverse voltage, forward voltage, packaging type and maximum average rectified current. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.
The most common sizes for maximum average rectified current are 1 A, 1.5 A, 3 A, 5 A and 6 A. We also carry standard rectifiers with maximum average rectified current as high as 400 A. Forward voltage can range from 1.1 mV to 1.3 kV, with the most common standard rectifier semiconductor chips having a forward voltage of 1.1 V or 1.15 V.

Applications for Standard Rectifiers:
Standard rectifiers can be found regulating the power in computers and the electrical power in motor vehicles. They can also be used in battery chargers for rechargeable batteries, computer power supplies and vehicle batteries. Also, while rectifier diodes are often used for AC to DC conversion, diodes with rectifying characteristics are found in other uses than in electronics. For example, a diode is used in the detector of radios in order to perform radio demodulation.

MELF/mini-MELF/LL-34 Package Diodes

The SOD-80 package, also known as mini-MELF, is a small ( glass, sometimes plastic) cylinder with metal ends.

Our Kingtronics mostly use package LL-34. Below information is for your reference.

MELF package: L=4.9mm; D=2.5mm
MINI-MELF (SOD80C): L=3.5mm; D=1.6mm
LL-34: L=3.4mm; D= 1.4mm

Code marked devices: 

Marked C2V4 TO C75  BZV55 series 500mW zener diodes (2.4 - 75V), also our BZX55C series, our factory stong zener diode.

The cathode end is indicated by a coloured band.

Some Coloured band marked devices (MELF/SOD-80), it's for your reference.

Some manufacturers have a generic type coding scheme for MELF and mini-MELF diodes.
